Michael was my cousin. He moved to California (can't remember where) after graduation. When he lived in California, he developed a brain tumor. He had surgery and came back home to Grand Forks and tried to go to school, but he had occasional seizures and memory lapses. He seemed okay and his normal intelligent self when I went to visit him to play cards now and then. But he got depressed because most of his close friends got married and he felt so lonely. He tried several times to commit suicide - one time he called his sister, Barbara, in Florida to say he had a gun and was going to shoot himself. She could hear the gun go off which had to be a terror for Barbara so far away, but he did not shoot himself at that point. Because his father had a policeman for a neighbor, not too many people knew how he finally ended his life. I had heard his father found him one day in their garage where he had hung himself.
